Following our recent call regarding a potential relaunch of the course on the genus Agapornis, the responses came pouring in. A sincere thank you to everyone who shared their thoughts! Your feedback confirms what we already suspected: the hunger for accurate, in-depth scientific knowledge about avian genetics is huge, and it is by no means limited to lovebirds alone.
However, after a thorough evaluation of all the input and our current research schedule, we have made a definitive decision: we will no longer offer a full, standalone course on the genus Agapornis ourselves. This choice is purely based on content and logistics. To properly incorporate all recent insights from DNA research, epigenetics, and pigment analysis, the course quickly adds up to seven full days. That is difficult to combine with our other lectures on weekends, especially when we also have to manage the practical organization ourselves.
A ‘shortened’ course is simply not an option for us: we refuse to do things by halves. Insights into genetics and pigment formation evolve daily. Aviculture is already drowning in outdated knowledge and persistent breeding myths; we refuse to sell ‘old wine in new bottles.’
To guarantee top quality and meet the broad demand, we are permanently shifting to thematic courses per topic, applicable to various bird species. These can be discussed and tailor-made in advance with the organizing association, ensuring that each course perfectly meets the organizer’s expectations.
