The start

We just started with DNA extraction to examine the blue locus in genus Agapornis.

  1. I have two Roseicollis with the AquaTurquoise phenotype that always have AquaTurquoise puppies. But, according to the book “Agapornis / Lovebird (Pajaros / Birds) (Spanish Edition) by Dirk Van Den Abeele”, the Aqua and Turquoise mutations are alleles of Locus bl+, making it impossible for them to merge in the same chromosome and within the same Locus.

The question is, are they really Alleles? Or, is it possible for allele mutations to fuse on the same chromosome?

I wish you good luck in the search. And I’m very interested in the topic.
